About

The story behind JobApp.

The Problem

If you've ever job searched seriously, you know the drill. You apply to dozens — sometimes hundreds — of roles. You track them in a spreadsheet that becomes unmanageable by week two. You lose track of which version of your resume you sent where. You forget to follow up. You don't know if 3 weeks of silence is normal or if you should move on.

And underneath all of that, there's the emotional weight. The rejection. The ghosting. The sense of yelling into the void. It's exhausting.

The Idea

JobApp started as a question: What if the tool you used to track applications actually helped you search smarter? Not just a database — but something that notices patterns, surfaces insights, and keeps you motivated when the process gets tough.

I wanted to build something that respects your privacy (your data stays on your machine), gives you genuinely useful intelligence (not just charts for the sake of charts), and connects you with a community of people who understand what you're going through.

What It Became

JobApp is a desktop application built with C++ and Qt, with a 3-layer intelligence engine (rules, scoring, and machine learning), a community platform on Discord, and a server infrastructure for optional anonymous data sharing. It's a full-stack project that spans:

Frontend: Qt/C++ desktop UI with custom styling, celebration overlays, streak tracking, badge system, and an insights dashboard.

Intelligence: Feature extraction, labeling, training, and scoring pipeline. Local ML model that learns from your personal history. Global model from anonymous community data.

Backend: FastAPI server with license management, device binding, anonymous aggregation, update distribution, Discord integration, and payment processing.

Community: Discord bot for key management and data visualization. Community pool for key gifting. Shared insights and benchmarks.

About the Developer

I'm a developer and designer who cares deeply about building things that are both technically solid and genuinely useful. JobApp is a personal project — built from scratch, every line of code, every design decision, every pixel.

This project is also a portfolio piece. It demonstrates skills across the full stack: system design, data engineering, machine learning, desktop application development, server infrastructure, community building, and product thinking. But more than that, it's something I'm proud of because it started from a real problem and grew into something I believe can help people.

If you want to chat about the project, the tech behind it, or just want to say hi — I'd love to hear from you.

☕ Support the Project

JobApp is a solo project built with a lot of care and a lot of late nights. If it's helped you or you just want to support indie development, a coffee goes a long way.

No pressure. Seriously. The best support is using the app and telling someone about it.
